Kinkaku Temple

A moment of zen brought to me by the beautiful Golden Temple in Kyoto.

In a pinch I picked up breakfast from McDonald's. Always interesting to see what pops up on fast food menus abroad.

Had a peaceful walk through the gardens and complex of Tenryu Temple. It is right next to the very popular bamboo forest as well.

Still not totally sure what I came away with. I think my new key chain is a famous wrestler(?).

The dinner set came with a bowl of spicy ramen, pork gyoza, cabbage slaw and a carafe of sake.

It was early, quiet and not a pebble out of place. I lingered for a bit to make sure I took in the peace completely.

Nishiki Market has lots of edible things to enjoy: oysters, local pickles, candied, dried shellfish.

Calling all manga junkies! You have found your spiritual center: Kyoto International Manga Museum.

What makes the dedication of this temple so special is the one thousand gold plated, cypress statues of The Thousand Armed Kanoon's likeness inside.

I rode the Shinkansen speed train from Tokyo station to Kyoto station. The trip was a blur but beautiful and so happy I made it finally to Kyoto.

Tsukiji Fish Market is scheduled to move to a new location later this year after being at it's current address for eighty years.

I had to put this on my list of bowls to gulp in Tokyo when I read about it's unique recipe.

If it looks confusing that's because it really, really can be.

I gorged on a small omakase that included uni and maguro - both being parts of a balanced breakfast.
